Riggs is a great guy. One of two puppies, he was always content to let his litter sister have the limelight. While she charmed everyone with her spunky personality, he was just, well, there. Easygoing in every way, always obedient to his Mom Holly, he just didn't stand out in any way except physically. Structurally he was great - and cute as a button. He was an obedient little boy, easygoing and sweet. Potty training was going as planned, he willingly took a bath, got brushed, let me cut his nails. He liked to play with Holly and had no particular favorites in toys. Well, that has changed some. We are a "teen" now and the best big brother any puppy could want.  All those long talks with Grandpa Homer before he died must have made a big impression on Riggs because he is WONDERFUL with the puppies and even the old guys.  Shadow likes him and Hoover does too.  He takes the girls out to play and potty, tolerates all their nipping and silliness.  He is so patient and a great playmate.

He considers Moola & Jazzy HIS girls and watches out for them -it's his job. I finally had to quit taking him along for the ride when I took the girls to dog class - he had the van rocking so bad yelling at other dogs (it's a full size van) that I was afraid he'd tip it over.  He still likes to dump the water bucket and flood the floor with 5 gallons of water whenever he can, and doesn't whine, bark or yell but THUMPS when he wants out of his crate (quite a unique style - we've never had a Thumper before) and can be quite annoying when he wants something because he will talk and talk and talk and you'll get no peace!  His new nick name is Yodel-Boy because he doesn't howl, bark or talk - it's a yodel.  So, actually he does have a personality!

Riggs' new interest is TV.  He is a TV addict!  He will watch anything - propping himself on the bed and watching anything that's on - his favorite shows?  Animal Planet (of course) and Medical Marvels - he likes watching the doctors in surgery.  Can't figure that one out, though maybe he's thinking about medical school.  He was always the one that alerted me to another dog being sick or not feeling well, so it kind of makes sense!  Doesn't matter what is on though, he'll watch it - he LIVES for evenings in front of the TV set - but we have to watch because if the show is "too good" (aka dogs and 4 legged critters) he gets right on top of the TV and slobbers all over it!  He almost shorted it out once it was so wet! He loves to watch TV so much I got him his OWN TV - but he complains because it's just a black & white and doesn't have cable! He prefers the big color one with cable much more.

In many ways he has the best qualities of Hoover and Homer. Riggs isn't intimidated by too much - even Shadow who he's made friends with!  He will always be a mama's boy - though they did have a falling out and a couple of major fights, but that is apparently behind him now - and he gets along with Holly just fine as long as they each have their space. He will cuddle a little, but not too muchHe was especially fond of Great-Grandpa Homer and before he died, would sit next to his x-pen "house" and quietly listen for hours while Homer must have told him stories of how to be a "big guy" and he's now doing everything Homer must have told him. He was always respectful and careful not to knock Homer down and ALWAYS said hello on his way outside to potty. He doesn't have a favorite toy - I think his favorite toys are his sisters' Jazz and Moola - if they go anywhere - so does he.  If they go outside, he does too. He doesn't dig too much unless you forget he's outside (then he reminds you with dirty paws), but he does talk too much sometimes! In fact sometimes he won't shut up!!! He always has to get the last word in. He loves baths, and tries to climb in! He likes them so much he once fell asleep during the rinse off.  He also likes ice cubes, and is good about never getting into things - he is totally trustable in the house - except for getting in the sink - but Mommy taught him THAT!

:Note the saran wrap over the TV controls - slobber protection! If the show is TOO good, it gets pretty wet so we have to protect the TV.
